Well I think it is anyway! Jackie posted pictures of her cute baby Emery's room today.
(Jackie I hope you don't mind me posting this here? It's just soo awesome to not share!)
So technically it's not about modest clothes or whatever although there are a few modest baby dresses in the photos! haha but using vintage decorations can be a thrifty way to make a room SOO adorable because you can find a lot of the stuff at thrift and antique stores AND Jackie MADE the mobiles, banner, quilt, little hanging things on the metal tree, beautiful blessing dress on the changing table and probably a few other things!

Dressing a Baby Bump
I post about this over on my blog somewhat regularly but I figured since this is the more fashion/craft blog I should do a little post over here as well. I am 34 weeks pregnant as of yesterday and I have loved dressing my growing baby bump over the past few weeks/months. I have enjoyed getting more creative with my outfits and I have really tried to get dressed most days even though it would be so much easier to wear sweats and a baggy t-shirt every day. {I am wearing sweats and a baggy t-shirt right now! Haha.} Anyway, here are some things I have learned about dressing my baby bump:
- A ton of my normal clothes work just fine covering my belly.
- Maternity pants are super comfy if you figure out what kind of waist line you like the best.
- I am going to buy a belly band for my next pregnancy. I haven't bought one yet and now I feel like there's no point since I won't be pregnant for much longer. But next time I'll get one from the beginning.
- Hair ties around jean buttons are a must!
- Maxi skirts and dresses are the way to go!
- Skirts and dresses in general are the way to go. So comfy and cool in the hot summer months.
- LONG undershirts are a must to cover your mostly unzipped jeans. {I guess that wouldn't apply as much if I had actually bought a belly band though!}
- Around the house it doesn't matter what you look like. I normally take off most of my clothes and let my belly hang out. Haha. It's super comfy, Maybe not the most attractive thing but oh well!!
- You can usually find good maternity stuff at Goodwill/Savers because people don't wear it for long and often don't keep it around after they have their baby. I found some super cheap and comfy bottoms that I absolutely love!
Well, that's about it! Now for some pictures of outfits I have come up with in the past few months!
For all you pregnant ladies out there: What are your tips for dressing your baby bump? Is it something you've enjoyed or something that has been really hard? I hope this helps someone out there! Just six{ish} more weeks til I can get on here and talk about dressing a sweet baby girl! :] Now THAT will be exciting!
{I'll make sure to update this blog before then though!}
Happy Thursday everyone!

DIY Throw Pillows
Yesterday my husband & I picked up a ruby red fainting sofa that I am absolutely in LOVE with. They have them available on Urban Outfitters, but those were a little too pricey for us. To my amazement we were able to find one on craigslist in PERFECT condition for nearly half the price. So, with a new couch comes the need for some throw pillows.
I have never been able to bring myself to buy them from the store because they seem way too overpriced for something that I could easily make myself. So that's what I did! I've made 2 so far, and am very pleased with the way they turned out.
First, I decided to try and make a yellow chevron style pillow & thought I'd add some pictures of the process just in case this inspires someone else to do the same! This isn't going to be a really thorough tutorial, just the basic idea because the measuring will probably be different for everyone.
I cut my fabric to make a 12in x 16in pillow and then cut three long strips of lace. Then came a lot of measuring and marking with rulers to make sure I made the zigzags an equal distance apart from one another.
Then you just pin the lace in place & sew it on. It's pretty easy, it just takes some time to get the lace in the right spot and pinned down. Once that Is complete you can go ahead and sew your back and front together, stuff it, & then sew up the last hole.
Here is a picture of the completed pillows!

Here you can see that you kind of have to fold the lace at the corners or pinch it together? Not sure of a good way to explain that.

For the second one I sewed a doily onto it.
& here is our sofa!!
I love the way these turned out, & it was so much cheaper than buying pillows. I'll definitely be making more!

Oh Baby!
It has been FAR too long since I have posted something. The holiday season can just get so busy sometimes! I love it nonetheless though! Anyways, I haven't had too much time to sew something spectacular to post, so I thought i'd share some exciting news!
{Baby #2 is on the way & is due the 20th of May!}
I wanted to find a creative & cheap way to share the news with the family, so I turned to my trusty camera. This picture was NOT as easy to take as it may look. This is all because of my curious little boy who wanted to do nothing but eat the chalk & rocks off the ground. I got the picture printed at Costco (they are so incredibly cheap to get printed there, it's ridiculous!) and then picked up a $3 frame from Target.
His cute little outfit didn't cost more than $6 dollars! Courtesy of Target & Old Navy.
Hope this post isn't too boring... I'll think of something more exciting to post later!

Just Add Lace! (The Jackie Edition)
I am so glad I am finally able to do another post! I have been without a way to load pictures to my computer for a while now & we finally fixed the problem! Woo hoo!
ANYWAYS, I took some of Nikki's advice from this post & decided to do a shirt makeover. I purchased this shirt from Target for $4.98 (couldn't resist the amazing deal), but wasn't too thrilled about the front of it. It had some strips of fabric sewn to the front & I didn't really like the raw edges. So, I found some half-off trim from Hobby Lobby & went to work!

{The shirt & the not-so-lovable front.}
Nothing too special about it at first. Just a regular polka dot shirt.
So to make it a little cuter, I did this!!!
{Please ignore the awkward chest pictures. I was without a tripod or husband at the moment, so I had to take the pictures myself. I'll post some better pictures later.}
I was very pleased with the results! Lace & trim can make a huge difference. This is definitely a trick that I will be using a lot!
